Appaloosa by Robert P. Parker, is an intelligent, emotionally profound novel, told in bone-clean prose wryly leavened with whip-sharp dialogue. It is deeply satisfying on various levels: as a well-told historical adventure and a modern re-interpretation of a classic theme; as an ode to unassailable friendship; as a subtle love story between two profoundly flawed people; and because Parker’s sparse haunting terrain is littered with gems of searing beauty. And cowboys.

I love this book. It is warm, funny, inventive, beautifully illustrated, and full of imaginitive, detailed inserts that encourage children to read and engage creatively with text and illustration. Emily Gravett has written and illustrated some of my all-time favourites, including Wolves, The Odd Egg and Dogs. The Rabbit Problem is another classic-in-the-making.

VINTAGE BOOKS

We buy your old books!!

We pay €1.20 per book in cash or €1.50 in store credit. We are looking for clean, unmarked books in excellent condition. In particular we are interested in fiction and paperback non-fiction like biography, history and travel writing. We are not interested in children’s books or academic titles. We also buy audiobooks (CDs only). We pay €3 for audiobooks or €3.50 in store credit. Please bring in no more than 20 books at a time.

Please note that from time to time when the shelves are stuffed we are unable to buy books!  To avoid disappointment please check with us before you bring your books in.
